Class & Culture films, in collaboration with sansculotte, Berlin, and Laszlo Umbreit, Brussels, present the premiere of their first feature-length documentary – Crass: The Sound of Free Speech (The Story of Reality Asylum)

Rockaway Park is thrilled that we’re able to show this incredibly powerful new work as part of our Rockaway Arts Weekend (RAW) on Sunday 17th September – a world first!

Made with the blessing of Crass members, the film dives into 1970’s Britain; the birth of punk and the formation of Crass, with an in-depth look at their art, music and ethos, plus its impact on those of us who were trying to make sense of a brutal hostile society we had no place in. Celebratory, shocking and raw, this film is as close to the story of the period as you’re going to get.

Film maker Brandon Spivey will be joining Gee Vaucher and Penny Rimbaud of Crass for a special Q&A following the screening, which makes this an event that’s definitely not to be missed!

The Vegan Cafe will be serving hot food, savoury snacks, cakes and hot or cold drinks, plus there’s a bar, art exhibitions, an arts market, lighting installations and inflatables as part of the Rockaway Arts Weekend (RAW) experience.

NB: Please be aware that tickets are limited and need to be booked in advance. There are no tickets available on the door…
