AHEAD OF THE band’s upcoming appearance at this year’s Rebellion Festival, Passion Killers play a three band gig in Leeds on 13 July 2025.
They will be joined by Clitspit and Ivy Hughes-Dennis for show at Wharf Chambers.
The gig will be a split benefit for Seva Lunch Club and Rainbow Junktion.
Formed in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, in 1979, Passion Killers blended working-class punk energy with pop sensibilities and vocal harmonies to create upbeat songs that were as catchy as they were defiant. Channeling anger and frustration towards authority, inequality, and the looming threat of nuclear war.
They self-released a series of DIY cassette recordings, selling them in school playgrounds and at local youth club gigs. One of these tapes found its way to Crass Records, leading to their track ‘Start Again’ being featured on the seminal Anarcho-Punk compilation – ‘Bullshit Detector Volume Two’.
Both founding members, Mave Mills and Harry Hamer, later became part of Chumbawamba.
Now, after more than 40 years, Passion Killers return to the stage for the first time since their last gig at Southfield Hotel, Middlesbrough, June 24, 1984.
Come and see history repeating itself at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, July 13, 2025.The gig will be a split benefit between Seva Lunch Club and Rainbow Junktion who both run volunteer-lead pay as you feel community cafes in Leeds.
