FIVE SEVEN-INCH SINGLES originally released by Zounds in the 1980s are to enjoy a re-release, courtesy of No Romance Records.
Each of the singles has been remastered, and presented in the original artwork – with each being pressed in a different colour vinyl.
The five re-releases are: Can’t Cheat Karma (Crass Records, 1980); Demystification (Rough Trade, 1981); Dancing (Rough Trade, 1982); More Trouble Coming Everyday (Rough Trade, 1982); La Vache Qui Rite (Not So Brave, 1983).
Formed in Reading in 1977, Zounds became one of the biggest names in anarcho-punk, releasing one of the first few singles on the Crass label. Signing with Rough Trade in 1981 they released a series of iconic singles and the epic album The Curse of Zounds. The bands last release, from this period, was an EP for a Belgian label called la Vache Qui Rite.
For the first time ever these five 7-inch singles have been remastered from the original digital transfers of the ¼-inch tapes, artwork recreated from original copies and pressed on coloured vinyl.
Can’t Cheat Karma – white vinyl
Demystification – yellow vinyl
Dancing – silver vinyl
More Trouble Coming Everyday – blue vinyl
La Vache Qui Rite – clear vinyl
Each single is available to order from the Advance Records online store (in the UK), and from the Rotator Vinyl Bandcamp site (elsewhere).
A limited-edition boxset, featuring all five vinyl singles, sold out within hours of the announcement of the re-release.
